The Kerala Tourism Development Corp (KTDC) is all set to welcome
tourists at the Ponmudi hill resort that has been developed as a
premium getaway and will open Oct 1.
Situated at an altitude of 1,100 metres, Ponmudi -- meaning a golden
peak -- is located 61 km from here and is part of the Western Ghats
mountain range that runs parallel to the Arabian Sea.
KTDC managing director K.G. Mohanlal said the resort has been refurbished
at an investment of close to Rs.1 crore.
"We have nine cottages with 14 rooms, with the tariff ranging
from Rs.2,000-4,000 a night. In six months we will have another
14 cottages," Mohnalal said. "We have also built a conference
facility that can seat 100 people as well as a full-fledged restaurant."
