Why
do some gardens "work", while others simply look jumbled, boring,
or undistinguished? The answer is "advanced planning"--but that
can be hard to believe, since so many appealing gardens have
a natural look that seems to deny the existence of an underlying
plan. So, get out your gardening gloves.
Taking care of your lawn is as important as taking care of your
house. The most neglected area of landscape maintenance is proper
watering of trees and shrubs. Many plants are more prone to
insect and disease attacks if they are stressed by lack of water.
Watering your lawn is no assurance that adequate water is reaching
the roots of your trees. To water trees and shrubs properly,
you need to use the trickle irrigation technique. Place a hose
near the base of the tree or shrub and let the water run at
a trickle for a few minutes. This method allows water to penetrate
the soil more efficiently. Do this patiently for some days and
watch your garden wear a beautiful, smiling look!
Always Cut The Stems Of
Flowers At An Angle...
Throughout
the world, people express their feelings through flowers. Flowers
seem to have a magical quality that no other gift has. It can
be a sign of love, appreciation, or apology. Flowers serve a
host of other purposes, as no celebration is quite complete
without flowers adorning the venue.
Here are a few things you need to know when you buy flowers:
• If you are buying a bouquet, never buy a readymade one. These
invariably have old flowers. Always have a bouquet made to order
or if possible, make it a point to be present when it is being
put together.
• Apart from the flowers used in a bouquet, the materials used
like the cellophane, board and ribbons are important, for both
appearance and durability.
A few tips on keeping cut flowers fresh longer.
• Pick flowers early in the morning or early evening. Wrap damp
paper towels around their stems until you get them indoors and
plunge them immediately into a container of water.
• Once inside, cut the stems at an angle and put them in a pail
of tepid water. ( Use a sharp kinfe, since scissors will compress
the stems. . Sub-Categories Irrigation Systems Landscaping Nurseries
