The
Port of Cochin is located on the Willingdon Island
at latitude 9 degree 58' north and longitude 76 degree 14' east
on the south west coast of India about 320 km. north
of Kanyakumari. The Port is administered by a statutory
autonomous body known as the Cochin Port Trust. The trust
represents various interests inter-linked with the port such
as shipping agents, shippers, labour, customs, state government
and so on. And each of these constitute a board which looks
after the administration of the Port. The Port also offers medical
and other kind of welfare facilities for its employees.
2. The Cochin Chamber of Commerce
& Industry
Established
in the year 1857 by a group of Englishmen, it is one of the
oldest Chambers of Commerce in the country having behind it
a 142 year history of service to trade & industry in Kerala.
It is essentially a state level organization and is locally
controlled. The Cochin Chamber of Commerce & Industry is a Promoter
Chamber of the Associated Chambers of Commerce & Industry
in India (ASSOCHAM), the apex Chamber of Commerce in the
country. The Chamber is a recognized body for the issue of 'Certificates
of Origin'. The Chamber has a full-fledged 'Weights and
Measures' Department which undertakes weighment/measurement
of export cargo and also conducts commodity surveys for which
quality certificates are issued.

3. Cochin Frozen Food Exports
Private Limited
It is situated at Aroor, 15 kms to the south of
Cochin, the nerve centre of Indian seafood industry.
It was established in the year 1992 and is headed by K. Prabhakaran.
Cochin Frozen Food Exports Private Limited is a fully marbled
6000 Sq. ft. processing area with well trained work force of
350 labours for standardised production, it has a plant with
USFDA HACCP compliance, European Union approved
and facilities approved by Government of India under
self-monitoring system.
4. Cochin Rubbers
Cochin Rubbers started in the year 1980, and moved to
become one of the leading manufacturers of tyre retreading products.
Superior quality compound is drawn using efficient K-4 Intermix
machines (Banbury). The company is associated with leading
tyre units like MRF, Apollo Tyres, Ceat, Vikrant tyres, TVS,
Falcon and so on in the field of mixing master batches.
Cochin Rubbers has grown into large group of units, with one
functioning in Dubai.
